One of the most common phrases in crypto is “DYOR” — Do Your Own Research. You’ll see it everywhere. But very few people explain what it actually means in practice.

Start With the Project’s Website
Every legitimate crypto project has an official website. Go there first.
모든 합법적인 암호화폐 프로젝트에는 공식 웹사이트가 있습니다. 거기부터 가세요.
Look for a clear explanation of what the project does. If the website is full of buzzwords but you still can’t figure out what the coin actually does after reading it — that’s a red flag.
프로젝트가 무엇을 하는지 명확한 설명을 찾으세요. 웹사이트가 유행어로 가득하지만 읽고 나서도 코인이 실제로 무엇을 하는지 파악할 수 없다면 — 그것은 위험 신호입니다.
A good project can explain itself simply. If they can’t, ask yourself why.

Read the Whitepaper — But Don’t Overthink It
Most crypto projects publish a whitepaper — a document explaining the technology, goals, and roadmap.
대부분의 암호화폐 프로젝트는 백서를 발행합니다 — 기술, 목표, 로드맵을 설명하는 문서입니다.
You don’t need to understand every technical detail. Focus on the big picture — what problem does this project solve? Who is it for? How does it plan to grow?
모든 기술적 세부 사항을 이해할 필요는 없습니다. 큰 그림에 집중하세요 — 이 프로젝트는 어떤 문제를 해결하나요? 누구를 위한 것인가요? 어떻게 성장할 계획인가요?
If the whitepaper is confusing or doesn’t exist at all, be cautious.

Check the Team Behind the Project
Who built this? Are the founders and developers public and verifiable?
누가 만들었나요? 창립자와 개발자가 공개되어 있고 확인 가능한가요?
A project with anonymous founders isn’t automatically a scam — Bitcoin itself was created by an anonymous person. But for most newer projects, knowing who’s behind it adds a layer of trust.

Search for the team members on LinkedIn or Twitter. Do they have a real history in tech or crypto? Or did they appear out of nowhere last month?

Look at the Community
A healthy project usually has an active community — on Twitter, Discord, Reddit, or Telegram.
건강한 프로젝트는 보통 활발한 커뮤니티가 있습니다 — Twitter, Discord, Reddit, 또는 Telegram에서.
But be careful. A large community doesn’t automatically mean a good project. Look at the quality of conversations. Are people discussing the technology and roadmap? Or is it just people posting rocket emojis and price predictions?

Hype-driven communities are a warning sign, not a strength.

Check Market Data
Visit a site like CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko and look at basic numbers.
CoinMarketCap이나 CoinGecko 같은 사이트를 방문해서 기본 수치를 확인하세요.
What is the market capitalization? How much daily trading volume does it have? How many exchanges list this coin? What’s the total supply versus circulating supply?
시가총액은 얼마인가요? 일일 거래량은 얼마인가요? 몇 개의 거래소에 이 코인이 상장되어 있나요? 총 공급량 대비 유통 공급량은 얼마인가요?
You don’t need to analyze these deeply right now. But a coin with very low volume and only listed on one unknown exchange deserves extra caution.

Be Skeptical of Promises
If someone — a YouTuber, an influencer, a friend — tells you a coin will definitely go up 100x, be skeptical.

Nobody knows the future. Nobody. The people who sound the most confident are often the ones selling you something.

Good research doesn’t tell you what will happen. It helps you understand what you’re getting into.

A Simple Research Checklist
Before buying any coin, try to answer these questions honestly.
어떤 코인을 사기 전에, 이 질문들에 솔직하게 답해보세요.
Can I explain what this project does in one or two sentences? Is the team public and credible? Does the project have a working product or is it just an idea? Is the community focused on substance or just hype? Am I buying because I researched it, or because someone told me to?

If you can’t answer most of these, you’re not ready to buy that coin yet. And that’s okay. Waiting is free.
